HACKNEY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Perhaps you've booked your venue and date.
So now you need a photographer – but what kind?
There are so many styles of wedding photographer
Are you looking for a natural, storytelling style wedding photographer, who's professional yet affordable, has a great eye for those quicky shots and will get on brilliantly with your guests?
Yes! Great - that's how I roll.
Book a call - I'd love to hear your plans.
I've been photographing weddings all over London for the last ten years but the most have been in the London borough of Hackney where I live with my husband and two teenage girls - It's a cute corner of the borough called Stoke Newington. Stoke Newington is well-known for its wonderful Church Street with St Mary's new and old Church's, Clissold park, Abney Park Cemetery Nature reserve and many independent shops, bars and restaurants.
Stoke Newington Town hall is a very popular place to get married in Hackney and holds many weddings all year round, with the after party often being hosted at one of the trendy local gastro pubs. I've spent many a Saturday at The Londesbrough. The food is so good I'm always excited to be working there. As you can imagine, there are many places in this area that are a great backdrop for wedding photography.
I also photograph weddings at Hackney Town Hall next to London Fields, Broadway Market and Regent's canal. Again, lots of interesting spots for wedding couple photography. Islington Town Hall is another wonderful venue near me, and it's on vibrant Upper Street - check out Say I do Islington for this area.
Heading West, I also shoot weddings at Old Marylebone Town hall and Chelsea Old Town Hall, both wonderful venues with so much glamour and history, with may celebrities having said their vows there.

MY STYLE
I offer natural. storytelling style wedding photography which means I will direct you in certain moments, like during your couple portraits unlike a documentary photographer, but I do it with prompts, that keeps it natural rather than overly posed. I tell your wedding story as it unfolds, through visual narrative. I aim to be unobtrusive and in the right place at the right time to capture all the excitement, nerves and laughter of the big day. I will give a small amount of direction, as and when needed, and family group shots are always important, too, but I recommend no more than about ten.
I enjoy capturing those magical, quirky moments which express the spirit of your day. It might be your crazy bridesmaid, your novel transportation to the ceremony, the best man dabbing the groom’s brow, a bridesmaid’s smile across the aisle, or Grandma grinning through her champagne flute.
At a time to suit, we can take a break from your guests for some bride-and-groom portraits where I can capture you interacting naturally with just a little bit of prompting. Depending on the location we could walk through an East London market capturing the buzz, or you could be eating an ice cream by the canal, sashay over a zebra crossing or hanging out in the local park.
I like to think I'm a pretty relaxed, friendly person and so hopefully that will ease any nerves you may feel. I find talking to you before the day and during the getting-ready part really helps you to feel at ease in front of the camera, and I also try to blend in and become part of the party at the reception so your guests feel relaxed with me too.
I love the editing process as much as the photography itself, and the days spent afterward subtly retouching your images to create the polished look you see here in my work. I aim to have the images ready for you within four weeks, although sometimes six in peak summer. I can however, supply a few sneak-peek images a week after the wedding, for your thank you cards. Photobooks will take a little longer, as the layout needs to be designed and approved by you, before printing. Expect your A4 50-page photo book to be completed in September/October for summer weddings.
