Chelsea Town Hall Wedding Photographer

Chelsea Town Hall is one of London's most elegant venues

The Grade II-listed building on King's Road has three intimate ceremony rooms for between 8 - 38 guests with a mix of modern and period detailing and exactly the kind of light that suits documentary wedding photography.

I have photographed a number of weddings at Chelsea Town Hall over the years and I have a real affection for the building. They are quietly grand in a way that feels genuinely London, and they photograph beautifully.

My approach on the day

I arrive early, prepare my equipment, check the light, and then I'm ready for everyone to arrive.

My approach is a mix of candid visual storytelling whereby I capture genuine moments as they unfold, but I also give small amounts of gentle direction for natural looking stylish portraiture. I believe it's important to provide both styles of images for weddings, so you get the unseen moments of the day and also more polished portraiture that is suitable for framing on the wall. I shoot mainly with daylight although fill-in flash will sometimes be used where the light requires it.

Photography at Chelsea Town Hall

Before the ceremony, if time permits, there is an opportunity to have some portraits taken together or individually, in the waiting room with grand staircase, which has a long mirror and a striking black and white tiled floor.

Depending on the time of day it's also possible to take a walk before or after your ceremony around the beautiful side streets of Chelsea. To read more about your options for wedding photography in the surrounding area, scroll down.

If booking more than two hours, I can also follow you to your local restaurant meal to capture you and your guests at the drinks reception, before you sit down to eat.

What is included

Every enquiry starts with a consultation call. We go through the details and timeline you have so far, I may make some suggestions and I answer whatever questions you have.

Once you have booked, we can have a second call nearer to the time of your wedding, to finalise your schedule. You will get full coverage for the hours we agree, and your images will be presented in a private online digital gallery in high-resolution with full download/printing rights, delivered in six to eight weeks depending on the time of year.

I'd love to chat on the phone (or Google Meet/Teams if preferred) to hear how I can help - so please let me know in the box below when would be good time. It's the best way for you to ask questions easily and for you to find out if we're a good fit. I don't do the hard sell so please don't worry about that - I look forward to hearing from you!

How many weddings have you shot at Chelsea Town Hall?

Quite a few over the years. It is a venue I return to regularly, which means I am genuinely familiar with the spaces, the light, and the logistics in a way that is extremely useful on the day. In summer, the pavement at the base of the iconic steps can get particularly busy with pedestrians, and needs skilfull but delicate management whilst simultaneously photographing the group shots there.

About the surrounding area

Chelsea has some of the most beautiful portrait settings in London. The residential streets nearby are lined with pastel-painted Victorian townhouses that make for a stunning backdrop, and the Thames Embankment is just a short walk away, with the iconic Albert Bridge providing one of the best backdrops in the city. I know both locations well and it's possible to do both if we were to hale a black cab between them, depending on the light, time of year and your timeline.
