Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel Wedding Photographer

One of East London's most beautiful, interesting wedding venues.

The town hall at Bethnal Green has been reimagined as a boutique hotel with ceremony spaces that combine period grandeur with a contemporary feel. High ceilings, original stonework, a genuinely spectacular staircase.

I have photographed a number of weddings at Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel, a good few of which move to The Hackney nearby for the reception part. The building's ceremony rooms are a photographer's dream: good natural light and beautiful architectural detail.

My approach on the day

I arrive early, prepare my equipment, check the light, and then I'm ready for everyone to arrive.

My approach is a mix of candid visual storytelling whereby I capture genuine moments as they unfold, but I also give small amounts of gentle direction for natural looking stylish portraiture. I believe it's important to provide both styles of images for weddings, so you get the unseen moments of the day and also more polished portraiture that is suitable for framing on the wall. I shoot mainly with daylight although fill-in flash will sometimes be used where the light requires it.

Photography at the town hall

The hotel rooms are fabulous for getting ready in with plenty of natural light.

The grand council chamber, the central staircase and the steps at the grand front entrance are the most photographed features of the building, and for good reason. I know exactly how to photograph them, including the best angles and the most useful light. The building is full of original features that reward patience and observation, and I bring both.

The front steps are the perfect place for confetti throwing, family group shots and couple portraiture.

What is included

Every enquiry starts with a consultation call. We go through the details and timeline you have so far, I may make some suggestions and I answer whatever questions you have.

Once you have booked, we can have a second call nearer to the time of your wedding, to finalise your schedule. You will get full coverage for the hours we agree, and your images will be presented in a private online digital gallery in high-resolution with full download/printing rights, delivered in six to eight weeks depending on the time of year.

I'd love to chat on the phone (or Google Meet/Teams if preferred) to hear how I can help - so please let me know in the box below when would be good time. It's the best way for you to ask questions easily and for you to find out if we're a good fit. I don't do the hard sell so please don't worry about that - I look forward to hearing from you!

Do you cover the evening at The Hackney too?

Often, yes. Many couples who marry at Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel have their reception at The Hackney, which is a short walk away. I cover both venues regularly as part of a single booking.

Where could we go for photography in Bethnal Green?

The side streets and railway arches with colourful graffiti are closeby, as are the giant gas holders by the canal with a small cobbled street. If you would like something greener Victoria park is a short cab ride away.

How familiar am I with the surrounding area?

I am based in Stoke Newington in Hackney and work across the whole of North and East London regularly. This part of the city is my home ground, and that familiarity is useful on a wedding day. I know the traffic, I know the cool spots around Hackney and Bethnal Green for a backdrop to your couple shots.

If you have any questions about whether I would be a good fit for your wedding at this venue, the best thing to do is just drop me a message and we can have a quick chat.
