Clapton Country Club Wedding Photographer

Clapton Country Club is a characterful East London venue in E2.

The name is an ironic take on old-school English gentility, but the venue itself is characterised by industrial-chic, upcycled charm with a romantic botanical atmosphere. It is warm, creative, and completely unlike anywhere else in East London.

I have photographed a number of weddings at Clapton Country Club and it is one of those venues where people just seem to enjoy themselves from the moment they arrive. It has a warmth and a relaxed, creative energy that makes my job enjoyable.

My approach on the day

I arrive early, prepare my equipment, check the light, and then I'm ready for everyone to arrive.

My approach is a mix of candid visual storytelling whereby I capture genuine moments as they unfold, but I also give small amounts of gentle direction for natural looking stylish portraiture. I believe it's important to provide both styles of images for weddings, so you get the unseen moments of the day and also more polished portraiture that is suitable for framing on the wall. I shoot mainly with daylight although fill-in flash will sometimes be used where the light requires it.

The venue's character

The glamorous industrial-chic buildings, from the exposed brick studio, which is a perfect space for getting ready, to the ceremony room and the main dining hall which feature wonderful up-cycled details. The romantic botanical elements add softness, running throughout the venue which create a photographic environment with real depth and variety. Couples who choose Clapton Country Club tend to want something characterful and personal rather than formal, and my photography reflects that. I know how to work with this kind of environment, and the results are some of the most characterful galleries I produce.

What is included

Every enquiry starts with a consultation call. We go through the details and timeline you have so far, I may make some suggestions and I answer whatever questions you have.

Once you have booked, we can have a second call nearer to the time of your wedding, to finalise your schedule. You will get full coverage for the hours we agree, and your images will be presented in a private online digital gallery in high-resolution with full download/printing rights, delivered in six to eight weeks depending on the time of year.

I'd love to chat on the phone (or Google Meet/Teams if preferred) to hear how I can help - so please let me know in the box below when would be good time. It's the best way for you to ask questions easily and for you to find out if we're a good fit. I don't do the hard sell so please don't worry about that - I look forward to hearing from you!

Is there outdoor space for portraits?

Yes. There is outdoor space in the cobbled yard and around the back of the building, and there is Millfields close by for greenery. It is worth talking through the options on our consultation call, and I can suggest approaches based on your timing and the season.

Can confetti be thrown in the cobbled courtyard?

Yes, on a Saturday but not for on bookings on a weekday due to the other businesses that also use the courtyard for access. An alternative is to have your guests throw confetti as you walk back down the aisle after your ceremony, which also works well for inclement weather.

About the surrounding area

Clapton Country Club is in a charming cobbled industrial street in the heart of East London and had a former life as a tram shed. The surrounding area is urban industrial, with antique victorian brickwork and metal shutters that can be used as a back drop for wedding groups and couple portraiture. A short walk away is Millfields, which offer an alternative softer, greener background for more couple portraiture, depending on the weather.

If you have any questions about whether I would be a good fit for your wedding at this venue, the best thing to do is just drop me a message and we can have a quick chat.
