Clissold House Wedding Photographer

Clissold House is one of London's loveliest wedding venues.

The elegant Georgian house sits in the middle of Clissold Park in Stoke Newington, surrounded by parkland, ornamental features, and the kind of light that makes a photographer very happy.

Being this local to a venue is a real advantage. I know Clissold Park in every season, at every time of day, and in most weather conditions. I know where the best light falls in the late afternoon, which parts of the park look beautiful in different seasons, and how the surroundings can add something unexpected.

My approach on the day

I arrive early, prepare my equipment, check the light, and then I'm ready for everyone to arrive.

My approach is a mix of candid visual storytelling whereby I capture genuine moments as they unfold, but I also give small amounts of gentle direction for natural looking stylish portraiture. I believe it's important to provide both styles of images for weddings, so you get the unseen moments of the day and also more polished portraiture that is suitable for framing on the wall. I shoot mainly with daylight although fill-in flash will sometimes be used where the light requires it.

Clissold House and Park

One of the things I love most about photographing at Clissold House is the combination of the light and airy interior spaces with large sash windows and the beautiful Clissold Park surrounding the house.

A wedding here gives me the chance to produce a really varied set of images across the day, from the guests arriving on the terrace, the ceremony inside one of the two rooms available to hire, the beautiful spiral staircase for couple shots and the hallway in between which is perfect for a drinks reception. Confetti throwing and family group shots can be done either on the pillared steps at the front or using the delightful rosebush framed back of the house, which is my personal favourite.

What is included

Every enquiry starts with a consultation call. We go through the details and timeline you have so far, I may make some suggestions and I answer whatever questions you have.

Once you have booked, we can have a second call nearer to the time of your wedding, to finalise your schedule. You will get full coverage for the hours we agree, and your images will be presented in a private online digital gallery in high-resolution with full download/printing rights, delivered in six to eight weeks depending on the time of year.

I'd love to chat on the phone (or Google Meet/Teams if preferred) to hear how I can help - so please let me know in the box below when would be good time. It's the best way for you to ask questions easily and for you to find out if we're a good fit. I don't do the hard sell so please don't worry about that - I look forward to hearing from you!

Are dogs allowed in Clissold Park?

Yes, and I am entirely in favour of bringing them. Dogs are not permitted in the house, but if a guest is happy to look after them outside during your ceremony, they make for excellent portraits - if they are part of your family, why not include them!

Do you cover other venues in East or North London?

You may be familiar with some of the gastro pubs in Stoke Newington, if you are local. One that regularly hosts fabulous wedding receptions is The Londesbrough on Barbauld Road, N16. They are booked out almost every Saturday for private events. Another pub for more intimate weddings is The Clarence Tavern on Stoke Nweington Church Street, it has a private dining room upstairs. Both are a great when used in combination with Clissold House for your ceremony.

How familiar am I with the surrounding area?

I am based in Stoke Newington in Hackney and work across the whole of North and East London regularly. This part of the city is my home ground, and that familiarity is useful on a wedding day. I know the traffic, I know the cute cafes on Church Street and I know the best places in the park that could look good as a backdrop for your couple shots.

If you have any questions about whether I would be a good fit for your wedding at this venue, the best thing to do is just drop me a message and we can have a quick chat.
