Islington Town Hall Wedding Photographer

Islington Town Hall is a gorgeous venue for your wedding. I love photographing here - the indoor couple photography in the beautiful marble corridor is stunning and a safe back-up for wet weather, and the grand marble staircase is perfect for documentary style just-married shots.
The grand council chamber and Room 99 with it's modern neutral decor are both wonderful, depending on your number of guests.

Say I Do Islington is the brand name for weddings at Islington Town Hall on Upper Street.

My approach on the day

I arrive early, prepare my equipment, check the light, and then I'm ready for everyone to arrive.

My approach is a mix of candid visual storytelling whereby I capture genuine moments as they unfold, but I also give small amounts of gentle direction for natural looking stylish portraiture. I believe it's important to provide both styles of images for weddings, so you get the unseen moments of the day and also more polished portraiture that is suitable for framing on the wall. I shoot mainly with daylight although fill-in flash will sometimes be used where the light requires it.

Photography at Islington Town Hall

After your ceremony there is the opportunity to do some freshly married couple shots in the gorgeous marble hallway on the first floor of the building. This is permitted for all the wedding venues booked at the town hall. It's lovely and bright due to the multiplicity of windows flooding it with daylight, so no matter the weather, you can get some lovely photos in the bag here, and on the mainstaircase.

Once outside, there is the option for your guests to throw confetti on the steps whilst I catch all the action from below. After that, it's a good time to do a number of group shots and finish with couple shots on the steps. See below for more location options nearby.

What is included

Every enquiry starts with a consultation call. We go through the details and timeline you have so far, I may make some suggestions and I answer whatever questions you have.

Once you have booked, we can have a second call nearer to the time of your wedding, to finalise your schedule. You will get full coverage for the hours we agree, and your images will be presented in a private online digital gallery in high-resolution with full download/printing rights, delivered in six to eight weeks depending on the time of year.

I'd love to chat on the phone (or Google Meet/Teams if preferred) to hear how I can help - so please let me know in the box below when would be good time. It's the best way for you to ask questions easily and for you to find out if we're a good fit. I don't do the hard sell so please don't worry about that - I look forward to hearing from you!

What is the difference between Say I Do Islington and Islington Town Hall?

They are the same place. Say I Do Islington is simply the name the register office uses for its weddings operation. You might find it listed under either name depending on where you are searching. Their Instagram handle is sayidoislington.

Where could I do getting ready shots before a ceremony at Islington Town Hall?

I am based in Stoke Newington and I recommend a lovely pub there called The Rose and Crown with rooms above that many brides choose for an overnight stay and then get ready there on the morning of the wedding. The suite and deluxe rooms are spacious, with enough room for the bridal party to have fun getting ready together. https://www.roseandcrownn16.co.uk/room-gallery

After the ceremony, and photographs on the steps outside there are more options for couple photography nearby. The residential streets in Islington are full of beautiful white Georgian and Victorian townhouses that look stunning as a backdrop in photographs and offer a very different feel to the grandeur of the ceremony room itself. The Regent's Canal towpath is also within easy reach and provides a relaxed, green setting for more informal portraits. And Chapel Street Market, one of London's oldest street markets, has a genuine character and energy that can add something completely different to a set of wedding images.

I am based in Stoke Newington, about twenty minutes away, and I know this part of North London well. That familiarity is directly useful when we need to make quick decisions about where to go after the ceremony, especially if the timeline is tight.
