The Hackney, Bethnal Green Wedding Photographer

The Hackney, Bethnal Green is a brilliant reception venue on Cambridge Heath Road in Bethnal Green E2, with a genuine East London character and a warmth that I really like. It is the kind of place where people relax quickly, and relaxed people make for much better photographs.

I have covered a number of wedding receptions at The Hackney as quite often the ceremony was performed at Hackney Town Hall or Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel, both nearby.

My approach on the day

I arrive early, prepare my equipment, check the light, and then I'm ready for everyone to arrive.

My approach is a mix of candid visual storytelling whereby I capture genuine moments as they unfold, but I also give small amounts of gentle direction for natural looking stylish portraiture. I believe it's important to provide both styles of images for weddings, so you get the unseen moments of the day and also more polished portraiture that is suitable for framing on the wall. I shoot mainly with daylight although fill-in flash will sometimes be used where the light requires it.

At The Hackney

I often go for a walk with the couple for great East London street photography in Bethnal Green, between the ceremony and arriving at The Hackney, whilst the guests enjoy their first drink. Upon arrival I photograph the couple and their guests mingling and the quieter, funnier, more unexpected moments that tend to happen at the edges of a busy room. Those are often the ones couples come back to most.

I also recommend some fun group shots in front of the gorgeous decorative lights and abundant plants. I will also capture beautiful close-up details of the decorations and tables before everyone is seated for the meal and speeches. And then its time to time!

What is included

Every enquiry starts with a consultation call. We go through the details and timeline you have so far, I may make some suggestions and I answer whatever questions you have.

Once you have booked, we can have a second call nearer to the time of your wedding, to finalise your schedule. You will get full coverage for the hours we agree, and your images will be presented in a private online digital gallery in high-resolution with full download/printing rights, delivered in six to eight weeks depending on the time of year.

I'd love to chat on the phone (or Google Meet/Teams if preferred) to hear how I can help - so please let me know in the box below when would be good time. It's the best way for you to ask questions easily and for you to find out if we're a good fit. I don't do the hard sell so please don't worry about that - I look forward to hearing from you!

Can you cover both Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel and The Hackney in one booking?

Yes, and I do it regularly. It makes for a brilliant full day of photography. Get in touch and we can talk through what coverage would work best for your plans.

Where could we go for street photography in Bethnal Green?

The side streets and railway arches with colourful graffiti are wonderful, as are the giant gas holders by the canal path with cobbles. More classical architecture can be found outside Bethnal Green Town hall Hotel.

How familiar am I with the surrounding area?

I am based in Stoke Newington in Hackney and work across the whole of North and East London regularly. This part of the city is my home ground, and that familiarity is useful on a wedding day. I know the traffic, I know the cool spots around Hackney and Bethnal Green, for a backdrop to your couple shots.

If you have any questions about whether I would be a good fit for your wedding at this venue, the best thing to do is just drop me a message and we can have a quick chat.
